Humble Beginnings
Our story began in 1950 when Mike Leprino opened a small, family-owned Italian grocery store in Denver’s Highlands neighborhood, where our global headquarters still stand today. Starting with ricotta, Mike soon began making mozzarella to meet the demands of the growing pizza industry. Over the next several decades, Leprino Foods expanded its mozzarella production, introduced new nutrition products, streamlined operations, and entered the international market.
Today, we are the world’s largest manufacturer of mozzarella cheese and lactose, with a vast global footprint and a loyal base of cheese and nutrition customers. As we look to the future, we will continue to move our 75-year legacy forward with passion and purpose.
